If you are reading this article there is a good chance that you are new to web hosting and simply need some advice and direction.   I decided to write a short manual to help you along your way, be sure to revert back to this manual when you find a web hosting provider that you are considering buying.

First, lets start at the very beginning:

What is Web Hosting?
Basically every website on the Internet is hosted on a server somewhere in the world.  Web hosting is a requirement to start an online websites regardless if it is for business or personal use.  There are thousands of web hosting providers but if you are going to create a professional and a reliable website you are going to need to do some research on the web hosting provider before you purchase.

In this manual I am going to outline some of the things that I personal look for in a web host, simply revert back to this manual when you find a host that you are considering.

#1 – What kind of support does the host offer? Although there are a lot of great hosting providers that do not provide 24/7 support, I would only suggest that you find a company that offers 24/7 support.  If you are having problems with your server at 7PM, you really are not going to want to wait until the next day to get it fixed.

#2 – Make sure you get plenty of server space. A lot of web hosting providers offer different plans, some with a bunch of disk space, some with less amounts.  If you decide to go with the cheaper plan and accidentally go over your limits you will be charged for the extra usage, this charge will end up costing you more than if you would have bought the bigger plan in the first place.  Be sure to remember that your site will grow in time, getting plenty of disk space, and bandwidth is essential if your site is going to be successful.

#3 – Consider the price. Some hosts charge $20.99 a month for hosting, some hosts will give you more for $3.99 a month… How is that? Well, hosts like Bluehost have millions of customers, since the deal in volume they can offer cheaper rates.

#4 – Read Reviews. I would suggest reading user submitted reviews on the hosting company you are considering.  Web hosting review sites (including AlreadyHosting.com) often receive commission when they refer a customer to a host. These services can sometimes be of great use to you when searching for a host; however, I would always suggest going back and reading what previous customers have to say about a host.

#5 – Read the Terms of Service. Each host has their own unique terms of service which will outline what you can and cannot do with their service… These are often long, but I highly suggest that you read them before making a purchase.

SUMMARY:

These are the five things that I always would look for in a web host, I call it my, “web hosting survival guide.”  Below are three hosts that I ALWAYS recommend to others because I know they are reliable and have had a great personal experience with them… They meet my five requirements:

# 1 – Hostmonster

#2 – Bluehost

#3 – iPage

I just wanted to let you guys know that I have removed the MDDHosting Review from AlreadyHosting.com.  I cannot go into details; however, due to pending litigation with MDDHosting I have decided to remove the review.

As always, if you are looking for web hosting I would suggest that you go with Hostmonster or Bluehost:

Holidays make great time to purchase web hosting… Why is this?  Well, during holiday weekends web hosting providers normally report having very slow sales.  In order to make up for lost sales many web hosting providers run special promotions during these periods.  The 4th of July is no exception!

If you are searching for web hosting I would highly consider purchasing your web hosting this weekend!  I have found that web hosting providers normally will keep prices low during the holidays but will often re-raise the prices after the slow period during the holidays.

After much research I have came up with a list of 4 web hosting providers that are currently running promotions, be sure to take advantage of these offers by the end of the weekend:

  1. Hostmonster $3.95 – That is right, our #1 ranked web hosting provider (and the host that we personally use) is offering hosting for only $3.95 a month.  The normal rate for web hosting at Hostmonster is $6.95 a month so this is a pretty big savings.
  2. Bluehost $3.95 – Another great web hosting provider (actually a sister site with Hostmonster).. If you are looking for a good savings and great customer support I would highly suggest that you consider Bluehost.
  3. iPage $3.50For only $3.50 a month you can have hosting with one of the best hosting providers in the world!  iPage is one of the fastest growing host and I feel comfortable suggesting them to anyone!
  4. FatCow $3.67 – FatCow is not only offering a great pricing for the weekend but also if you sign up you will be automatically entered into a contest to win a free car!
